As most may come to expect from the billionaire artist/designer, creator, and influencer, Ye formally known as Kanye West is again in the headlines. What is new though? That's what we've come to expect. Someone interviewing Kanye...Kanye speaking on socials, most of which he was recently removed from (Instagram, Twitter), wearing a "White Lives Matter" t-shirt at a fashion week event. Ye is always trending. It precisely is the things he is trending for that gives us a look into who Ye really is and what his impact is on numerous levels and industries. What is going on here?!
Creating a bit of a timeline of recent events, we have a list here:
Airing out his disapproval of Adidas and the use of Yeezy Brand & creative designs
Dissolving Partnerships with Gap and
Fox News with Tucker Carlson
JP Morgan cutting ties
Drink Champs Podcast Interview #3
Making what many report to be "anti-semetic" remarks, while advocating for the "True blood of Christ"
This is just to name a few of the recent events you may have heard recently regarding Ye and the controversy that comes from what he see and believes to be true. One thing for certain, Ye is absolutely not shying away from what he has to say in the eyes of the public. In the current age we live, many collectives believe censorship is a problem and platforms have grown to combat the thoughts and ideas of content creators, exhibitionists, left-wing, right wing, all the wings....controversial thought. Ye does not want to be silenced. He wants to be heard.
"In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves," - Ye
Deciphering and deciding if that information is for you or everyone is a decision he cannot make for you. Nor can i. So Ye recently agreed in principal to acquire the free speech, view-point neutral social platform, Parler. Making freedom of expression, security, and privacy a reality through social media and blockchain technology is their vision and caught the attention enough to have the controversial billionaire seek acquiring the platform. With plans to close on this deal soon, Ye has made a way to ensure his views aren't cancelled, and or silenced because the views/statements he may make go against the grain of society.
Cancel culture and particular view media suppression is a thing now, and it's not only Ye but plenty of celebrities have experienced the cut-throat nature of social society today. From another billionaire like Elon Musk. Comedians George Lopez and Monique. Actors like Will Smith, Nick Cannon( who later retracted his comments and things started to move back in his favor again) and artists like Lil Boosie who is frequently removed from Instagram. I think even the former President Trump was off Twitter to form his own platform from the backlash of how Capitol hill was taken and his involvement, remarks, and rhetoric. It is a mixed bag of everything under the sun from racist, anti-semetic, vulgar, and unpopular views.
To each their own as they say....to each their own views and opinions but they may not have a place in mainstream social but they do have Parler, Patreon, and a few other platforms that try keep a neutral medium to allow these minds to express thought. It's "shut up and dribble" for the NBA stars like LeBron. Ye does too much for the culture and shown the uncanny ability to create for us in multiple industries but when it is time for him to talk...you might just have to catch him on Parler.
